The world is a funny place. No matter the time I end up in, I never know what to expect. I can’t believe, of all things, that I was a doctor in that dark place just trying to get back to his wife, but those tunnels were something else. But it seems whenever I feel that there is more to do, the tunnel has other plans for me. It is stepping into the tunnel that I never know who I will become, when I’ll end up, or what challenges I will face. And just like that, as I was thinking about what seemed like a second ago, the tunnel opened again, and stepping out, I saw a bald, well-dressed man whose emotionless face was darkened. Was this me? Was I seeing a reflection of who I was?
That’s when I heard the voice, a woman calling me 47. Was I just a number? Did I not have a name other than 47? Before I could think about it anymore, someone informed me that the contact worked for the shadow client, Lucas Grey. As I am being informed more, I have learned that the group that Mr. Grey is a part of is in the cartel region. My mission was simple: cripple the cartel. But it wasn’t going to be easy, as this 47 guy needs to take out not one, but three targets.
All I could think of is the mysterious lady who is talking into my ear, if you want me to do whatever it is you need me to do, maybe not play it up to where it seems I have no chances of survival. We have the cartel, people with guns walking around in the streets, and now, all three targets are in the same space at the same time. And my next question is, if I am this agent, why did I get dropped off at a bus stop? Well, I guess it’s all on foot from here. Before I go taking out anyone, I want to get a feeling for this village I was dropped off at and see what intel I can gather.
As I was walking towards my target, I noticed something: the tunnel. Why was it opening up now? Please don’t say all I was supposed to do was go knock on the big door. But as soon as I walked into the tunnel, I was out again. This time, I was on a ship in different clothes. As I was about to move, I noticed my target was near me. I couldn’t act on the hit as there were too many people around. But as soon as my opportunity came, I followed them to a spot with there would not be many witnesses. I got ready for the moment, and then it happened, and it was time for me to leave and hopefully, not be noticed.
As I went to the door, I was no longer on the ship, but transported to a party. All I can say is that there are a ton of people here. I am not sure if something is going on with the tunnel or not, but I seem to be trespassing everywhere I go. Luckily, I could hide in places, but I still need to get to my target and not be noticed, which for me, is not working at the moment.
But in the blink of an eye, that woman is giving me the details of a new mission. Either something is not right with this world, or something is going on with time itself, but I was now in Morocco, where it seems a lot more protesting is going on. My targets are now a private banker and an army general who wants to overthrow the Moroccan government. So as I began my mission, I could not get past how alive this place is. Full of people and full of hope, and all they are trying to do is make it. But it wasn’t until I came across the one I found that seemed to be losing that hope. That’s when I gave them a coin that regained their faith. That’s when it happened. The tunnel opened up, and I was able to leave.
As I reflected on what had happened, I am not sure if it was my actions or was it simply giving one of my last few coins to the one that needed it that allowed me to leave; I realized that there are still those who believe and some who think that power can overturn the hopes and wishes of the masses. While it can take just a few to try to change how things can be, it is going to take a lot more of us to make sure that for there to be change, there has to be trust in ourselves and each other.
