Rogue Flight has been out since October 2024, and it is one of those games that brings nostalgia. It will test your skills with its beautiful art style and bullet-hell gameplay. But now, when you think you have mastered all testing, you are about to be tested even more with the Void Challenge. In the Void Challenge Mode, players start with only 60 seconds on the clock and must achieve and maintain combos to pause time. The higher the combo, the higher the score and the longer the player will last.
The Void Challenge evolves depending on how much of the core game the player has completed. Players who have yet to finish the game will start the mode with the basic Vulcan and whatever upgrades they have applied, while those who have completed NewGame+ start with all the weapons unlocked and a Seraph upgrade in addition to any upgrades they have applied.
The enemies and encounters evolve based on the player’s progress through the core game mode. Even the way the level looks will change, featuring remnants of previously completed stages and even the wrecks of past defeated bosses. The Void Challenge also includes a new song, “Ashes” from Rinn. Players who have yet to complete the game will be treated to an instrumental version of the song during the Void Challenge. However, those who have completed NewGame+ will get the full song with the vocals. Also, anyone with retro mode enabled can enjoy a 16-bit PCM version.
But this is Rogue Flight we are talking about. A simple challenge cannot be the end all, there has to be more. Perp Games and Truant Pixels also want to announce an ongoing chance for players to win some exciting prizes, from physical copies of the game, hats, t-shirts, pins, and stickers, to 3D printed representations of the Arrow (the ship from the game).
This is how the challenge will work:
- On the third weekend of every month, running from Friday to Sunday, players can take a screenshot from their best run, showing the high score.
- This can be captured using the screenshot functions of the player’s console or PC.
- The screenshot can be submitted to socials using the hashtags #IntoTheVoid & #RogueFlight or sent directly to ‘Submissions@perpgames.com‘.
- The winners from each competition weekend will be notified within seven days of the competition ending and will have a further seven days to respond. They will be notified via whichever means they submit their entry (X, Facebook, Instagram, BskyB, or email).
The new Void Challenge Mode will go live today, with the first weekend of competition starting at midnight on Friday, January 24th, 2025.
